The custody dataset, 2021–2026
Every barcoded item that crosses the sorting table gets scanned by hand before it’s routed. Five years of those scans are a public, auditable record of what actually moves through this operation — the homepage number links straight here.
July 2021 – July 2026: 352,551 books, 53,077 DVDs, 39,924 music discs and tapes, 2,182 video games.

Weight, stated honestly. At category-average weights, the scanned items alone come to roughly 340,000–380,000 pounds. But barcode scanners never see a large share of the stream — pre-ISBN and no-barcode books, magazines, encyclopedias, vinyl, and camera equipment. Counting that material at conservative rates, the running total clears 450,000 pounds, and on ordinary assumptions it passes the half-million mark. The scan count above is exact; the poundage is an estimate with the method shown — that’s the difference between what we headline and what we hedge. Counts refresh as data syncs land.
