Sytha Motto, born in 1893 by the book's cataloging data, gathered New Mexico history from 1528 to 1978 in More than Conquerors. The chapters run from Zuni, Acoma and Oñate through the Penitentes, Old Albuquerque, the Pecos churches, traders, trappers, the Santa Fe churches and the Sisters of Loretto, to the Gadsden Treaty, land grants, the Civil War, the Chávez and Armijo families, sanitariums, academies and New Town Albuquerque. She also wrote Old Houses of New Mexico and the People Who Built Them (1972).
