George Fitzpatrick was for many years the editor of New Mexico Magazine, and This Is New Mexico gathers articles from that magazine into one book. The jacket calls it an anthology based on articles that appeared in New Mexico Magazine over the past thirty years, running from prehistoric New Mexico to the Atomic Age, with a foreword by Greer Garson Fogelson. The contributors listed on the back of the jacket include Fray Angelico Chavez, J. Frank Dobie, Harvey Fergusson, Peter Hurd, Conrad Richter and Lawrence Clark Powell.
This copy is the Horn & Wallace edition published in Albuquerque in 1962, a revised and enlarged version of the book the Rydal Press first issued in Santa Fe in 1948. Fitzpatrick inscribed the title page and dated it 10/10/62, and the two publishers, Calvin Horn and William S. Wallace, signed below him. A highway map of New Mexico fills the endpapers.
