L. Bradford Prince, governor of New Mexico Territory from 1889 to 1893, published Spanish Mission Churches of New Mexico in 1915, a survey of the Spanish mission churches of the state.

The Rio Grande Press of Glorieta reissued it in 1977 as a Rio Grande Classic, and the copyright page lists what the press added: a new publisher's preface, a scholarly introduction by Marc Simmons, a new index, color plates that include reproductions of paintings from the Museum of New Mexico collection, new black and white photographs, a foreword by Governor Jerry Apodaca, and a map locating the mission churches. The endpapers reproduce Gerald Cassidy's painting At the End of the Santa Fe Trail.

1977 Rio Grande Press reprint of the 1915 first

The copyright page reads 'A Rio Grande Classic, First published in 1915' and 'First Printing 1977' under The Rio Grande Press, Inc., Glorieta imprint, and its cataloging data calls the book a reprint of the 1915 edition published by the Torch Press, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A 1977 reprint, not the 1915 first.
