Peter L. Eidenbach's atlas gathers historic maps of New Mexico from 1550 to 1941 in one volume, from sixteenth-century maps of the New World to early twentieth-century highway maps, each reproduced in color with commentary. The spread photographed here sets Humboldt's map of 1811 beside Pinkerton's of the same year, and the back cover quotes Rick Hendricks, New Mexico State Historian, and the historian Richard A. Melzer.
