How Free Pickup Works
Text or Call Me
Reach me at 505-250-3804. Tell me roughly how many books and your part of town. A photo of the pile helps too.
I Come to You
I set a time on the next run through your area. Have a hard deadline? Say so and I'll tell you honestly whether I can work it in. Porch pickup works great — leave bags or boxes outside if you won't be home.
Books Find New Homes
I sort everything. Valuable books get resold. Good-condition books get donated to readers. Damaged ones get recycled. No book goes to the landfill.
Request Your Free Pickup
Tell me what you have and where it is. I’m the only person who shows up — I do the lifting, any condition, no sorting. Tell me your timeline and I’ll do my best to work with it. Texts go straight to my phone at 505-250-3804.

What I Pick Up
All Books
Fiction, nonfiction, textbooks, children's books, encyclopedias, cookbooks, art books, religious texts, coffee table books, magazines, comics, graphic novels.
Media & Cameras
DVDs, Blu-rays, CDs, vinyl records, cassettes, VHS tapes, video games, and cameras, lenses, camcorders, projectors, slides and film. Scratched or missing cases is fine.
Same Trip: Everything Else
While I'm there I'll also take clean, wearable clothing and shoes, household items, toys, tools and small electronics, so one visit clears the room. TVs and monitors are the exception.
Any Condition, Any Quantity
One bag or an entire garage, no minimum. Water-damaged, musty, torn, highlighted or missing covers, I take it all. Readable books find new readers; the rest are recycled.

Frequently Asked Questions
▶ Is there free book pickup near me in Albuquerque?
Yes. I pick up books free anywhere in Albuquerque (North Valley, South Valley, Westside, Northeast Heights, Southeast, Downtown) and in Rio Rancho, Corrales, Bernalillo and Placitas. Valencia County, the East Mountains, Madrid and Cerrillos, Algodones and the Cuba area are extension routes. Text or call 505-250-3804 to schedule.
▶ How fast can you pick up my books?
Pickups are scheduled by route; in normal weeks that means within a few days. Right now (as of September 27, 2026) my free pickups are booked through the third week of October, so if your load fits in a car, the 24/7 drop box at 5445 Edith Blvd NE is the fast option. Text 505-250-3804 with your address and a rough idea of how many books, and I'll give you an honest timeframe.
▶ Do you take all types of books?
Yes — fiction, nonfiction, textbooks, children's books, encyclopedias, cookbooks, coffee table books, religious texts, magazines, and more. Any genre, any age, any condition. I also take clean, wearable clothing and shoes, plus household items, during the same pickup.
▶ What if my books are in bad condition?
I take books in any condition — water-damaged, yellowed, musty, torn covers, missing pages, written in, highlighted. Readable books get resold or donated. Damaged books get recycled. No book goes to the landfill.
▶ Do I need to box or sort my books?
No sorting needed. Bags, boxes, or just stacked on the porch — whatever works. I do all the sorting myself after pickup. If you want porch pickup while you're at work, just leave them outside and text me.
▶ Is the pickup really free?
Completely free, no strings attached. I don't charge for pickup, I don't require a minimum number of books, and I don't expect anything in return. I resell what I can and donate what I can't.
▶ Do you also pick up clothing and other items?
Yes. Books and media come first, but during a book pickup I also take clean, wearable clothing, shoes, coats, household items, toys, tools and small electronics, so a general cleanout can go in one trip. I can't take TVs or monitors.
▶ Is there a book drop-off near me instead?
Yes. My free 24/7 drop box is outside the gate, near the road, at 5445 Edith Blvd NE, Unit A, in the North Valley. It is covered and waterproof, and no appointment is needed. Someone is at the warehouse 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day to help unload a big load; if the box is full, text 505-250-3804 or come during those hours.

Eldred, Josh. "Free Book Pickup Near Me — Albuquerque, NM." New Mexico Literacy Project, 25 May 2026, newmexicoliteracyproject.org/free-book-pickup-near-me.
New Mexico Literacy Project has been a fantastic partner for Assistance League of Albuquerque. We are a thrift store that sells donated books and a percentage of these we are unable to use. We are able to recycle these through Josh which saves us hours of sorting and disposing every week. And they do not go to a landfill. Josh is reliable and professional and the free pickup has been a huge help. It saves our volunteers from hauling boxes of books. He comes by, loads up, and we get our space back. No hassle and no minimum. I highly recommend Josh and the New Mexico Literacy Project.
