Donate Audiobooks on CD in Albuquerque
Published March 21, 2026 By Josh Eldred
Audiobook CDs may have fallen out of fashion with the rise of digital streaming, but they remain a valuable resource for many people — especially those without reliable internet, those who prefer physical media, or people who appreciate the tactile experience of a CD collection. If you have audiobook CDs taking up space, the New Mexico Literacy Project makes donating them simple and free. My mixed media donation program accepts audiobooks on CD, alongside books, DVDs, vinyl records, and more. I've processed over 500,000 pounds of donations and work to keep media in circulation throughout the community.

Why Donate Audiobook CDs?
Audiobooks on CD are a classic format that has served commuters, drivers, travelers, and listeners for decades. While streaming services dominate now, CDs are still preferred by some people who value tangible media, want to avoid subscriptions, or who may not have consistent internet access. Donating your audiobook CDs gives them a second life with someone who will actually use them.
Upgraded to digital listening? Completed a series? Just decluttering? Donating audiobook CDs is an environmentally responsible choice that keeps media in circulation rather than in landfills. People in your community may still be enjoying audiobooks the traditional way.
When you donate through us, you're contributing to media accessibility and helping ensure that audiobook listening remains available to everyone.

Audiobooks serve many purposes in a community. For people with visual impairments, audiobooks provide access to literature and information. For busy professionals and commuters, audiobooks make it possible to "read" while driving, exercising, or doing other tasks. For people learning English as a second language, audiobooks can help with pronunciation and comprehension. For others, audiobooks simply offer an engaging way to experience stories and information.
Even in an age of streaming, physical audiobook CDs remain relevant and valuable. Your donation might reach someone who prefers CDs, doesn't have internet access, wants to build a physical audiobook library, or simply wants to try audiobooks before committing to a subscription service.
Audiobooks on CD still have value — I sort, price, and connect them with listeners across Albuquerque and the surrounding area.
