Not necessarily. NMLP routinely picks up books without the donor being present:
- From a porch, doorstep, or covered entryway — most common. Leave the boxes outside, NMLP picks them up, gone.
- From an open garage — common for donors at work during the pickup window or who prefer not to coordinate timing.
- From an alley or side gate — NMLP works with you on access logistics.
- From a storage unit — provide the unit number, gate code, and combination or padlock key location.
- From an estate or vacant property — NMLP coordinates with realtors (lockbox), attorneys, neighbors, or property managers for access.
If the books are inside the house and you'd rather have someone present:
- NMLP can work with a family member, friend, neighbor, or coordinator who's there on your behalf
- Out-of-state heirs commonly arrange with a realtor or attorney to provide access
- Senior care facility residents often coordinate via adult children or care coordinators
If the situation is sensitive (recent death, memory care, hoarder cleanout): NMLP works with you on a comfortable approach. Call to talk it through. 702-496-4214.
