True-first precedence between the US Outlander and the UK Cross Stitch is genuinely close and debated: US rights sold first, but both appeared on or about 1 June 1991 and the London printing may have preceded the US one. Catalogue both as co-firsts of the work rather than asserting one precedes the other. For a signed first printing, confirm a complete number line (1 through 10) on the copyright page; the numbered Cross Stitch proof is the scarcest collectible state.
