The first roughly 1,000 copies were diverted as promotional editions for the 1985 San Diego Comic-Con and exist as two scarcer variants: a Gold edition (about 400 copies, with a numbered gold certificate of authenticity, signed and numbered by Alan Moore on the first page) and a Blue edition (about 600 copies, with a blue certificate signed by Cat Yronwode and Dean Mullaney but unnumbered)
