Free Book Donation Pickup on the West Side & Rio Rancho

Albuquerque's West Side has been the fastest-growing part of the metro for decades — and that growth means a constant churn of families moving in, moving out, upgrading homes, and accumulating books and media that need a second life. From the established neighborhoods of Taylor Ranch and Paradise Hills to the newer subdivisions of Ventana Ranch and the sprawl of Rio Rancho, I cross the river regularly to pick up books, media, and electronics for free.

My warehouse is east of the river on Edith Blvd, but I batch West Side runs multiple times per week. Text or call 702-496-4214, or schedule online.

West Side Collections — What I see

Military Families on the Move

Kirtland Air Force Base employs thousands of active-duty personnel and civilian contractors, many of whom live on the West Side for the newer housing and family-friendly neighborhoods. When a PCS order comes through, the timeline is non-negotiable — families need to shed weight before the movers arrive. Books, children's outgrown reading, media collections, old electronics — none of it makes sense to pack and ship across the country. A quick text to me before the packout date gets everything picked up and routed to readers in Albuquerque who can use it. I understand military timelines and work to them.

Growing Families in Newer Construction

Ventana Ranch, Volcano Vista, the newer Rio Rancho subdivisions — these neighborhoods are full of families with young kids who cycle through children's books at an astonishing rate. What fit a three-year-old does not fit a seven-year-old. Rather than stacking boxes in the garage indefinitely, a pickup from me gets those board books and early readers into the hands of families who need them — I stock Little Free Libraries across the metro with exactly this kind of material, and donate directly to elementary school classrooms.

Taylor Ranch & Paradise Hills

The most established West Side neighborhoods, with homes dating to the 1970s and 1980s. Longtime owners here have the same accumulation pattern as the NE Heights — decades of reading, shelves in every room, boxes in the garage. As the original residents age and downsize, I handle the library portion of the transition. Collections from Taylor Ranch tend to be broad and deep: fiction, nonfiction, history, biography, self-help, cooking, gardening, and the kind of eclectic personal library that reflects a lifetime of curiosity.

Cottonwood Area

The commercial corridor along Coors near Cottonwood Mall draws from dense surrounding residential neighborhoods. Apartment complexes and condos in this area generate regular pickup requests — people moving in and out, upgrading, downsizing. The pickup logistics are straightforward: I carry loads down stairs, work around apartment access requirements, and take everything in a single trip.

How Pickup Works

  1. Text or call 702-496-4214, or use the online form. tell me what you have and your West Side address.
  2. I schedule a West Side run. I batch pickups on the West Side, so scheduling may take a day or two longer than east-side addresses — but I am over there multiple times per week.
  3. I load everything. No sorting, no boxing, no carrying on your part.
  4. Books, media, electronics — all in one trip.

Prefer to drop off? The 24/7 drop bin at 5445 Edith Blvd NE is easy to reach from the West Side via Montano or Paseo del Norte — about 20 minutes.

What Happens to Your Books

  • Resale-worthy titles go to my online channels. Revenue from these sales keeps every pickup free.
  • Children's books — a huge category from West Side families — go to Little Free Libraries, elementary classrooms, and directly to families who request them.
  • Readable adult books go to shelters, community centers, and reading programs.
  • Damaged material is recycled — never landfilled.
  • Electronics go through my e-waste program.
